Without Adam

Adam left for his mission trip to South Africa on Wednesday morning. Its been rough without him. I knew it would be hard, but its actually been a little harder than I thought it would be. I really miss him.

Last night I was putting something away and managed to slice my little toe open on this metal exhaust pipe Adam has in my extra bedroom. It bled a lot and so finally I called a friend of mine who is a nursing student. She came and looked at it and decided I didn't need stitches. She bought some Steri Strips to hold it together. It started bleeding again this morning so I went to the doctor just to be safe. She said it would be ok and that my friend had done a good job. I have to go back on Monday just to have her check it again.

When I got home from work tonight the bandaging was coming off so I had to put some fresh ones on. I was proud of myself because I was able to do it. I'm a bit squeamish and this whole thing has been kind of hard for me! I hope that's all the excitement I have while Adam is gone.

Tomorrow night I'm having several friends over to help me address wedding invitations. I'm excited. I think it will be a lot of fun. One of the things that has been really cool about the whole wedding thing is that its given me an excuse to reconnect with some friends I haven't talked to in a long time. I really like to stay in touch with friends that live other places, but I haven't been very good at it.

Ouch! You are learning one of the laws of such a relationship... whenever one leaves, something happens. The furnace will go, the hot water heater, a flat tire, a cut toe... it seems to never fail. Welcome to the club!!
