I have a temporary job right now in the Volunteer Mobilization/Disaster Relief department of North American Mission Board. Up until now, it has not been a very challenging job, to say the least. Yesterday however, that all changed as preparations for Hurricane Dennis kicked in full gear.
Today I had a very challenging assignment... I had to take notes from a conference call that had over 30 people on it, from all over the country. I must admit that one of the greatest challenges of that was trying to understand some of the thick accents from some of these southern states! To make it even harder, they were making references to some strange sounding cities (Some of the Alabama and Mississippi cities were so foreign sounding to me, I can't even recall them now!) and of course, using some terminology that was Greek to me! Did I mention that call lasted for over two hours?
Things are sure to be even more interesting next week!
