The Church Big and Small

As usual, yesterday morning I attended my church, which runs close to 6,000. I love my church. We have an incredible pastor and an amazingly deep staff. As a part of that body we have so many neat opportunities for ministry and fellowship. During yesterday's service, they showed a video of a man in our church sharing the tragic story of pulling in his driveway and accidentally running over his daughter, who was out sunbathing. She survived, but is now paralyzed. Another member of our church is the owner of a large car dealership so he partnered with our church to present to the family a van. I love it when the church does what the church is intended to do.

On a different note... one of the things our church does every year during the missions conference, is they hand out booklets that have missionaries that have been sent out of our church for us to pray for. It is set up as a 30-day prayer booklet, with 3 missionaries per day.

A couple of weeks ago, on day 11, they had a list of mission churches. I noticed that one is in Atlanta and there was a website listed so I checked it out. It really intrigued me, so last night a friend and I visited this church. It turns out it is currently meeting in a house in Midtown, Atlanta. It was really neat to see the dedication of the people there and to see church take place in that setting. I am hoping that our singles group is able to help this church out with some of the community service/outreach projects they have planned in the future.

Tonight I started a small group Bible Study/accountability group. Again, an example of seeing church in a different setting.

I thank God for the Church big and small!
